Rocket Science for Business

Let’s face it - software development is probably the most difficult endeavor known to 21st century man.

For years, architecture and construction has been used as a metaphor of software development. These activities meld engineering and creativity. When done well, the end product is functional and aesthetic. When done badly, well, you have a mess on your hands. And neither can be done well without others involved.

Software is also art. Great developers tend to seek out elegance in code. They relish code that succinctly solves a problem. They find joy in their code’s appearance in their favorite code editor - never mind that the person who uses the software will likely never see the code! For a developer that cares, though, this elegance may also relate to quality - software that simply works, and works well. There is also the visual aesthetic of the software application’s user interface - but not so much simply looking beautiful and polished. Rather, the software simply and unobtrusively fulfills the user’s goals.

Bringing all of that together takes time. We’ve been doing it a long time. We keep learning and delight in finding better ways to solve a business problem. Can we be of service?

“The science of design… is the source and very essence of painting, sculpture, architecture… All the works of the human brain and hand are either design itself or a branch of that art.”
-Michelangelo
